CULTURES IN COLLISION

Tales of Conflict & Resolution

Awarded: 'HONORS' in 2008          BEST STORYTELLING RECORDING   by STORYTELLING WORLD

The Headmaster challenged 3 Master Storytellers: “Show us the ugly face of racial conflict, and give us hope with your stories.” JEFF GERE, ALTON CHUNG, & LYN FORD with piano wizard LES ADAM met this challenge in a high school assembly (Maui, October 2007). The students were at first stunned silent, then laughed & cried, and finally stood cheering. Headmaster Joe Schmidt concluded, “that was the best assembly we’ve ever had- ever.” Prepare to be moved & inspired by this unique collaborative CD.

The Animal’s Message of Peace - Lyn Ford
A sad folktale of high ideal thwarted by gossip and grumbling
The Twice Saved Life- Alton Chung
A true World War II tale: In Poland,a Jewish boy invites the Japanese Diplomat to Passover, who then saves thousands of Jews. That boy is freed from the Concentration Camps by Japanese-American GIs. At the end of his life, that boy, now living in Israel, meets those GIs who freed him and the Diplomat.
Moon Cookies, Martin & Me- Lyn Ford
Lyn’s tale of growing up with a Jewish Survivor or the Camps, which feeds movingly into her saga of walking out of her high school the day Martin Luthor King was killed.
Panui & Not Brown Enough
A supernatural tale: a stone prevents a Japanese mother from murdering her son because he dared to loved a Hawaiian girl. This leads Jeff’s into a cultural dilemma- does he have the right to tell such sacred Hawaiian tales? He asks & tells the tale to Hawaiian elders.

Jeff - That 'Cultures in Collision' CD you gave me is worth a MINT! It's
beautiful to the Nth degree! I listened to it on the road to Arizona & back
again. Did I say thank you? AGAIN, wonderfully moving!                                                    Ann Buxie, Los Angeles Story Producer

Jeff, Alton & Lyn will perform together after the LA's National Storytelling Conference (7/10) at Ann Buxie's house.

Culture in Collision is a treat. I have heard your piece and Alton's before but they
are both good and very appropriate.  Had never heard Lyn Tell and thoroughly enjoyed her and her story.  A winning CD.
